Who’s on board this Dream Big train?

Hello there!

Recently I posted a story on this blog about a conversation I had with my 6-year-old niece. She’s a smart, optimistic, big picture thinker – and what she taught me about dreams and vision has reshaped the way I think about my life, and about my business. (If you haven’t already seen that story, you can check it out here. The comments are worth a read too – thanks to all of you who’ve contributed so far!)

It seems that conversation touched a nerve for lots of people. The website hardly knew what hit it – and that, combined with the HUGE response to my survey (about time and productivity), has confirmed what I’d been thinking for a while….

There’s SO much more to life than food. When I started Nibl, reliable recipes for healthy, delicious recipes were much harder to find. Back then, nonfiction bestseller stands at bookshops were NOT overflowing with recipe books showing shiny, glowing people carrying massive basket loads of fresh produce, and surrounded by children with green smoothie moustaches. Now it seems that everybody and their dog is on the healthy eating bandwagon (literally – there is an entire industry around creating wholesome home-made food for pooches).  It has been amazing to play even a teeny-tiny part in the groundswell towards healthy eating becoming a more mainstream thing. (And when you see Jamie Oliver, Donna Hay and even Nigella Lawson adding healthified recipes as part of their most recent collections – you know it is definitely a “thing”.)

Don’t get me wrong – I’m always going to love healthy, delicious food – and I know that you probably do too. That may be why you joined me here. But I now feel like I’ve done exactly what I wanted to do in the food world – I’ve helped hundreds of people to create delicious food that nourishes their bodies, that doesn’t cost the earth, and that their families actually want to eat. I’ve had some incredible invitations and opportunities come my way because of Nibl – some of them I’ve taken. And some, after much soul-searching, I’ve turned down.

Which got me to thinking – WHY turn down the opportunity to write a recipe book? Or to perform at some huge foodie events? Or to blast everyone with my vitamix on national TV (actually I’m still waiting for that last invite – but the other ones were true!).

Because – and I have to be honest here – I get fired up about so much more than food. I want to help people with much, much more than that. Which is why Nibl is changing direction, and I hope you’ll come too.

So where is this Nibl train heading? I’ve spent a lot of time this year, thinking about how starting up and running my own business these past few years has taught me a thing or three.

What I often see around me (and I’ve experienced it myself) is so many clever people with wonderful visions of what they want to do and create in this world, getting worn out and overwhelmed by all of the busy-ness. All of the possibilities, the decisions, the demands. It can be overwhelming and exhausting. So many to-do lists, so many annoying notifications, so little time for what we really care about.

And THAT, my friend, I can help you with. This is my way of going BIGGER. In bringing my own dreams to fruition, I can also help you to do the same with yours. It’s a win-win. I’m moving into doing more of what I LOVE to do – helping smart, ambitious people to capitalise on your time and maximise your energy, so that you can succeed in business and thrive in life.

Nothing makes me happier than seeing people move from flustered to flourishing, overwhelmed to organised, and exhausted to energised!

I’ve been plotting and planning for most of this year, and I’m getting so close to announcing what’s coming next. You’ll notice some big changes on this website. The new About page and the Work With Me page will give you some clues on what’s up next. (Don’t worry, the recipes are staying for now, and I won’t be able to stop myself from sharing new tasty morsels as I create them – after all, eating well is even more important when we’re busy creating miracles!)

In two weeks I’ll be back with more detail about what’s coming next – but if you’re the kind of person who loves the inside scoop, join up to the mailing list – VIPs get the big news first!

With big big dreams in my head,

Nicola
