Nibl is my happy place. You’ll notice I’m not wanting to be didactic or proscriptive or judgemental about the choices people make about food and lifestyle. My message is all about adding goodness in, and (hopefully) feeling fantastic for it. It’s all good.
But life isn’t all chocolate and kittens and fern fronds. Sometimes life is really tough; it can throw some very unfair curve balls. Sometimes dreadful things happen, unfathomable things which we struggle to get our heads around.
I didn’t know Bradley and Ellen, or anyone connected with them – but it’s impossible to hear their story without feeling very, very sad. I know from personal experience what it is like to lose someone suddenly and tragically. What I can’t fully imagine is just how hard it must be for Ellen and Bradley’s loved ones, friends and classmates, and for families, teachers and staff at St Leonards School as they contemplate returning to school next week.
When tragic things happen, for anyone who is on the outskirts, it’s hard to know what we can actually do that makes the slightest difference. One thing that we like about starting this new business is that it does give us the chance to offer something tiny in the way of help. We’re happy to donate our time and energy for a really good cause. So we’ve donated a double pass to a Nibl demo as part of the huge Trade Me auction series dedicated to “Bringing Back a Smile”. You can read about the aims of the auction here; the overall goals are to raise funds to create a day of fun for the children of the St Leonards community and to commemorate the lives of Bradley and Ellen in a lasting memorial at St Leonards school.
This is our listing, and all the other wonderful donated items are here. There are some phenomenal items/experiences to be won. Walk-on role on Shortland St? Ummm…..yes please. Weekend escape for four at Hanmer Springs? I’ll take that. There are more than 90 listings, so there must be something that takes your fancy. If not, but you’d still like to donate to the cause, you can do that here.
Please support the auction! Wherever you are, it’s a little thing you can do to help bring a smile back.
