Rolling Right Along…

Riverton 2014

Phew…catching my breath, after a wonderful weekend at the Riverton Heritage Harvest Festival! I went to some great workshops – foraging, making herb teas, reconnecting with nature, and food fermentation. In the past I’ve spent quite a bit of time reconnecting with the nature in my fridge, as I foraged in the murky depths for whatever concoction I’d inadvertently fermented (joking!). However I now realise that I could have done this in a much more relaxed way, while sipping on a lovely cup of herbal tea made from fresh herbs in my garden. Seriously though, they were all excellent, and very inspiring.

We thoroughly enjoyed running our own Extrawdinary Food workshop on Sunday afternoon and got lots of wonderful feedback, so I’m hoping everyone there had a great time! That was possibly one of the chattiest audiences ever – I could hardly get a word in – and I learnt a lot. Thanks so much to the Festival organisers for having us, and to everyone who came along (if you were there, feel free to write a review here if you’re so inclined). Huge round of applause for my wonderful assistants Carol, Ros and Flynn – you guys rocked, and without you I might still be cleaning up the Aparima College kitchen now!

So rolling right along…I’m now getting organised for the next workshops and demos in Dunedin. What’s up next:

Introduction to Extrawdinary Food Demo – Monday 7th April, 7.00 – 8.30pm – details are here

Not for Me, Dairy Workshop – Wednesday 16th April, 7.00 – 9.15pm – details are here (this one ran just recently, but is being repeated due to popular demand)

Super Snacks Workshop – Sunday 18th May, 12.00 – 2.30pm – details are here.

The venue for all three is Taste Nature, 131 High St, Dunedin. All of them are at least half full already, which is amazing!

Within the next week I’ll be finalising dates for public workshops/demos for the rest of 2014, and people on the mailing list get to see them first. So if you want to be in the loop, don’t be shy – sign up if you haven’t already. I send out a newsletter once every 6 weeks or so – I promise I won’t be spamming you. Just offering tasty tidbits of information and information, along with little treats like extra recipes or discount vouchers. It’s all good!
