Laughter – we all need more of it. Every day. Did you know that the average four-year-old child laughs 300 times a day, but for adults the average is supposedly somewhere between 4 and 20 times? (This is possibly an urban myth, but try your own statistical analysis. Good luck running around after the four-year-old with your clipboard for 24 hours though.)
For me, something that’s guaranteed to get me LOLing is when someone takes the p#*s out of what I care about. I spend a lot of time looking at sites and social media accounts focused on clean and healthy living. And things can get pretty Earnest with a capital E out there. (I’m probably guilty of this myself, although I do try to throw in generous sprinklings or irony and cynicism from time to time).
More importantly, let’s face it – while healthy living can be fun, MOCKING healthy living is even more fun (to borrow a phrase from the very lovely Jenny, who is without doubt one of the funniest people I know).
So here they are – 5 “healthy living” videos I love to watch when I need a giggle:
- We all know about the dangers of sugar, but these girls at The Katering Show put a whole new spin on it (naughty language alert):
2. While we’re cutting out sugar, we’d better get rid of gluten too:
3. By this time you should be feeling awesome. Buy yourself some fancy new gear:
4. Once you’ve got your active wear on, everyone in the household can get into yoga:
5. And if all that healthy living fails, there’s always therapy:
Hope those gave you at least a couple of belly laughs! I’d love to hear about other clips you know of – the healthy living industry is RIPE for comedy picking.
And if you’d like to have a chuckle with me each Friday, join me on the facebook page – if there’s one thing I love to end the week with, it’s a really good laugh-til-you-snort scenario. Let’s catch up with those four-year-olds!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for introducing me to The Katering Show! I laughed coffee all over my keyboard it was that hilarious.
From the bottom of my heart, you’re most welcome!
And the particularly good news is that there’s now a second series of The Katering Show – only screening in Australia right now, but for the love of irritable bowel syndrome I hope we see it here soon. xx
Also just watched how to become gluten intolerant- I’m SOMCL! (Sitting on my chair laughing). I was watching the Katering Show when S came home for lunch and we both nearly wet ourselves. I clearly am not going to do any work today.
I’m really sorry to ruin your workflow today Jenny ha ha! And the image of you and S cackling away over your lunches makes me very happy, very happy indeed. You guys now have hours of entertainment ahead of you – JP Sears has many many more clips like this (the one about yoga and instagram is particularly SOMCL-worthy.)
Me too, just loving he Caering Show. I’m off to find more episodes!
Me too Megan! Always good to have clips like these up your sleeve when you need a laugh!
